HELPFUL HINTS...

Here are some things to consider:

·       Choose images that have a common theme

·       When arranging the images, consider how the image on the left page relates to the image on the right page.  Arrange the images so that they flow in a logical sequence and tell a coherent story.

·       100 Books Publishing Company provides you with spaces for 90 images.  Try starting with about 150 of your photographs.  Print these out in Photoshop CS as contact sheets. (File browser>open your folder with all 150 images>edit>contact sheet II> choose 8.5X11 paper size, 300 pixels/inch resolution and choose 5X5 arrangement.  Check “use file name as caption” and check “use auto spacing”.   Then hit OK.  Photoshop will build a set of contact sheets for you.  Print.  Then take a pair of scissors and cut the images apart.  Now you can arrange these on a clean table and see your entire book at once.  Arrange them in pairs that represent the right and left pages that will face each other.

·       Once you have chosen the 90 images and how they will be arranged, print out each image full size on an 8.5X11 inch sheet of paper.  Use the CMYK profile.  You may be asked to send these images to the printer for him to use as guides for color management.

·       Now arrange these full-size images just as you did the thumbnails.

·       Ask a friend or a mentor to carefully review the images you have chosen and the order in which you placed them.  These friends/mentors will be your editors.  Make changes as necessary.
